The Pilgrimage - Fifth Pillar of Islam
Hajj is the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah, the holiest city for Muslims. It is obligatory for every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it to perform Hajj at least once in their lifetime. Umrah, the lesser pilgrimage, can be performed at any time of the year and is highly recommended but not obligatory.
وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا
"And pilgrimage to the House is a duty owed to Allah by all who are able to undertake it."

Of sound mind and mental capacity
Can afford the journey without debt or hardship
Healthy enough to undertake the journey

Hajj consists of several key rituals performed over 5-6 days during the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah:

Umrah is simpler and can be completed in a few hours:
Put on Ihram at the Miqat and make intention for Umrah
Circle the Kaaba seven times counterclockwise
Perform two rakats of prayer near the station of Ibrahim
Walk between the hills of Safa and Marwah seven times
Men shave or trim hair; women cut a fingertip length
While in the state of Ihram, the following are prohibited:
Wearing stitched clothing (for men)
Using perfume or scented products
Cutting hair or nails
Marital relations
Hunting or harming animals
Covering the head (for men)
Covering the face (for women during prayer)
Arguing or fighting
Muslims from all races, nations, and backgrounds gather as one, dressed alike, standing equal before Allah.
Hajj is a spiritual reset, a chance to seek forgiveness and start anew with a clean slate.
Reliving the journey of Prophet Ibrahim, his wife Hajar, and his son Ismail (peace be upon them).
Demonstrating complete submission and love for Allah through physical and spiritual sacrifice.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah and does not commit any obscenity or transgression will return [free from sin] as on the day his mother gave birth to him."

Drink plenty of Zamzam water and stay hydrated, especially during Tawaf and Sa'i.
